Job Description:
TPW is seeking a passionate and experienced Geospatial Data and Conservation Technology Officer to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in our conservation efforts by utilizing geospatial data and technology to support wildlife conservation and community development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- GIS Data Management: Manage and maintain geospatial data, including data collection, analysis, and integration into conservation programs.
- Technology Integration: Identify and implement conservation technologies such as remote sensing, GPS tracking, camera traps, and data analytics.
- Mapping and Spatial Analysis: Create maps and conduct spatial analyses to support conservation planning and decision-making.
- Data Collection: Design and oversee data collection protocols for monitoring wildlife populations and community activities.
- Training and Capacity Building: Train staff and community members in the use of technology and data collection methods.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with local partners, researchers, and organizations to leverage technology for conservation efforts.
- Reporting: Prepare reports and communicate findings to stakeholders, donors, and the wider conservation community.
- Project Management: Manage geospatial and technology components of conservation projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Geography, GIS, Environmental Science).
- Proven experience in geospatial data management and conservation technology.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of conservation technology tools and their applications.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Experience working with local communities and in a conservation context is an advantage.
- Ability to work in remote field locations as needed.
