Direct Entry Scheme:

Applicants under the direct entry scheme must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be a form four graduate with at least three (3) credit passes in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination in relevant subjects according to the specific program.
  • The applicant must have at least two principal level passes and one subsidiary level pass in the Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, provided that the total number of points is at least 4.5 in the scale where A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1; and S=0.5.

Equivalent Qualifications Entry Scheme:

Applicants with equivalent qualifications wishing to join Mzumbe University must meet the following requirements before being selected:

  • Must be the holder of an appropriate Diploma from an accredited institution, not less than second class level, from a registered institution, OR
  • Must have a certificate from Mzumbe University, at least second class level, after completing form VI with at least one principal level pass and at least 3.5 points in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education.

Postgraduate Degrees Admission Requirements

General Admission and Registration Requirements for the Postgraduate Degrees Programmes:

A candidate for admission to the master’s degree must have:

  • A second class bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, OR
  • A second class advanced diploma or equivalent qualifications obtained after at least three (3) years of study, OR
  • A professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA (T), MD, CSP, MCIPS, or their equivalent from recognized professional bodies or institutions.
  • A candidate with a PASS degree will also be considered if they can demonstrate that they have acquired an examined postgraduate or professional qualification.
  • A candidate with undeclared degrees should have a credit average of B or above.
  • A candidate holding a degree whose classification is not easily distinguishable by the University shall be required to have their qualifications clarified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) before being considered for admission.
