The College of Business Education (CBE) offers various programs at different levels, and each program has its specific entry requirements. Below are the entry requirements for some of the programs offered at CBE:

Degree Programs

For undergraduate degree programs, the general minimum entry qualifications are as follows:

  1. Completed A-Level studies before 2014: Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points (where A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1).
  2. Completed A-Level studies in 2014 and 2015: Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points (where A = 5; B+ = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D = 1).
  3. Completed A-Level studies from 2016: Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points (where A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1).

Additionally, candidates with Recognition of Prior Learning qualifications may also be eligible for admission. The minimum required qualification for Recognition of Prior Learning is a B+ grade, where A = 75-100, B+ = 65-74, B = 50-64, C = 40-49, D = 35-39, and F = 0-38. Alternatively, candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 accumulated from six core subjects and at least a C grade from three subjects.

Candidates who have completed the Foundation Programme of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) should have a GPA of 3.0 accumulated from six core subjects and at least a C grade from three subjects in a respective cluster (Arts, Science, and Business Studies). They should also possess an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at least 1.5 points from two subjects.

Equivalent applicants with at least four O’-Level passes (Ds and above) or NVA Level III with less than four O’-Level passes, or equivalent foreign qualifications, may also be considered. Such applicants should have at least a GPA of 3.0 for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) or an average of B for Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or other specified qualifications.

Diploma Programs

For the two-year ordinary diploma programs at CBE, applicants should have at least four passes (excluding religious subjects) in the Certificate of Secondary Education.

Specific entry requirements for some of the diploma programs are as follows:

  • Ordinary Diploma in Business Administration (DBA): Any NTA level 4 certificates from NACTE recognized institution, OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with one Principal pass and one Subsidiary Pass of the combination subjects.
  • Ordinary Diploma in Accountancy (DA): Any NTA level 4 certificates in Banking and Credit Management or its equivalent from NACTE recognized institution, OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with one Principal pass and one Subsidiary Pass of the combination subjects.
  • Ordinary Diploma in Banking and Finance Management: Any NTA level 4 certificates in Accountancy or its equivalent from NACTE recognized institution, OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with one Principal pass and one Subsidiary Pass of the combination subjects.
  • Ordinary Diploma in Marketing (DMK): Any NTA level 4 certificates from NACTE recognized institution, OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with one Principal pass and one Subsidiary Pass of the combination subjects.

Admission Regulation

Selected candidates who have been offered admission to the College of Business Education are required to register after paying at least the first installment of the tuition fee. The registration and fee payment process should be completed within one month (30 days) from the date the college opens. Failure to complete the registration process within this timeframe may result in losing the student’s status, and they may not be able to undertake any course during that particular semester.

Students are not allowed to change their academic program later than the second week from the commencement of the program. Names used during admission should correspond to the names appearing on the certificates that qualified the students for admission.

Certificates obtained outside Tanzania should be translated by the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).

Prospective students are advised to carefully review the specific entry requirements for the program they wish to apply for and ensure that they meet all the qualifications before submitting their applications to the College of Business Education (CBE).
